Masters swimming offers an excellent opportunity for structured training and competition for adult swimmers aged 18 and over. There is no upper age limit and the City of Cambridge Masters team ranges from 18 years of age to swimmers in their 60's and beyond and includes all levels of ability from fitness swimmers to European record holders.

Initially, speed is not paramount but the aim of the group is to develop a competitively minded squad of swimmers by way of professional coaching and regular training. While there is no necessity to compete, and many of our adult members swim purely for fitness, it is beneficial if swimmers are able to swim well on at least three different strokes to get the most from training sessions.

Those who do wish to compete can take part in a number of competitions, ranging from local masters galas all the way to the World Masters Championships. Each year the squad's training is usually geared around the two national masters championships held long course in June and short course in October.

If you wish to arrange a couple of trial sessions, just send an E-mail to the Membership Secretary a day or two before you wish to come down and he will make sure the coaches are aware that you will be coming for a swim.
