A total of 37 swimmers from the City of Cambridge Swimming Club made the journey to King’s Lynn at the weekend (Sunday 9th June 2002) to compete in the King’s Lynn Warriors Open Meet.
The day proved to be very enjoyable and produced some excellent results, with swimmers achieving a total of 106 personal best times during the gala.
Biggest P.B. of the day went to James Pugh, taking a massive 10.62 seconds of his 50m-butterfly time; four other swimmers achieved P.B.’s of more than 10 seconds.
All events were individual swims, but the team spirit, so evident at recent galas shone through, with the club receiving an award for the best-supported club. This was achieved by vocal support for all team competitors throughout the day, and also as a result of ten minutes of singing and dancing around the pool prior to the start of the third session!
Top City of Cambridge girl and boy on the day were Soraya Sassini and George Crofts respectively. Soraya gaining three firsts and two seconds and George gaining one first, one second and three thirds.
Top three placings.

The huge number of personal best times achieved on the day, with six swimmers achieving P.B.’s in all five events, and the enjoyment all swimmers had, is evidence of the hard work and commitment being put in at training by all of the squad.
An excellent day's swimming, well done everybody.
